as part of my college course I've just started I get to learn Visual Basic, and they're going to teach us version 6 (lucky me).
I'm sure there's a few people around here who will know about it
Mid_Gen?
if anyone could direct me to some handy resources or books I would much appreciate it, thank you.

Have a browse round amazon, read the customer reviews.
Balls that your using VB 6 tbh, it's not particularly OO-oriented if I remember right. Cheap-asses probably don't wanna cough up for vs.net licenses.
Get a good book though...well worth it.

I don't know how OO it is, but we've been told we'd be using OO techniques, so...
I'll find out eventually.

I did a bit of vb6 at college, gotta say it was easy to learn and I'm now finding it hard to change to other languages. If you want tutorials and stuff try:
www.vbexplorer.com
or
www.visualbasicforum.com
you have to register a free account with the second, and in my opinion the first is much better.
If you've got any questions about vb, send me a email or something

that is a concern of mine, I'm hoping that I will be able to easily forget it all, tell myself that everything I learnt about VB is useless now and move on, so that I can start afresh with C or C++.LemonSHARK wrote:...and I'm now finding it hard to change to other languages...
only one way to find out... unfortunatly.
/me is reminded of a conversation he had with ZiK about Kulgan bringing us back "presents"ZiK wrote:why would you need to collect a mail order bride? surely they... mail it (i mean her) to you?
i.e. two japanese girls hidden in his suitcase
(god knows how they would fit, we didn't think that far).
I actually wanted to say Objective-C but it seems to make mid_gen post things questioning such a choice.Kulgan wrote:Ewwww. Learn Java. C++ is useful, sure, but Java should be the first of the two really.
