iTunes for Windows

Post by mid_gen »

Well, it's finally out, I've heard good things about it, so I'm letting it sift through my music library at the moment.

Calm down now eclipse ;P

I was reading MacMinute's live commentary of the music event :P

nah nah, seriously it's good, I like, and I'm using.
sharing music across the network is quite nice, but iTunes doesn't let you copy the music across, which is teh sucketh, I did hear someone made a plugin for the mac iTunes that let you do that, I hope it gets ported.

Doesn't let you copy the music across?

Edit -> Preferences -> Advanced -> "Copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to my library"

nah nah, I mean, you can't copy across music someone else is sharing/streaming in iTunes.

Well if you could, that would make iTunes a rather nice P2P music sharing client, and I don't think that is really their plan ;)

I read today that the new iTunes software fubars the older iPods. i.e. you bought a 5MB iPod to work with a Mac, but actually use it with a PC and have just upgraded your software...

Urm, I've just sold off my 10gb 1st-gen iPod and replaced it with a 3rd Gen 20gb. Both of them worked absolutely fine on the same install of iTunes. I don't understand what the problem is supposed to be?

It's in this months PCW. Apparently they install the software, copy musi to the iPod. It lists everything fine but plays bugger all. Apples response was it was designed for a Mac...

Hmm, strange, never had that problem. More likely there was a specific firewire or other issue...who knows....

As a owner of a original 5gig iPod I can say with some authority that it works fine with iTunes. Never had any problems.
