README Account activation

Post by Kulgan »

OK, we're being hit by spam bots quite a lot, so I've enabled Admin-controlled account activation on the board.

If you're a nice fluffy LANny person who wants to talk to us, you have nothing to fear. It would actually make things much easier if you send me a mail at kulganATshotgunlanDOTcom - that will tell me you're serious. Otherwise, I'll likely ignore your request. Sorry :(

If you're a spammer, kindly sod off.

Yeah... sorry about that. I think it emails everyone who's an "admin". If you like, I'll make you a moderator instead (with most powers)...

I think one of those 'type in the letters above' mods would do the trick.

Good to know you're up to date Chris... we've had one of those for a couple of years ;-)

Yeah, just a pity there hasn't been an actual lan in as much time! :P

De-stickify-ing this, as we've upgraded the 'type in the letters above' thingy... It's worth noting for anyone that cares that the default phpBB captcha isn't too great at all really - We're now using FreeCap, which is a bit more serious.

Note - I didn't set it up, which is why it works. Speak to Nick if you want details ;)
