I have been working on doing some cool terrain images with some new software that I recently got. What do you guys think?

Terragen is quite funky ain't it ;p

You should get to grips with all the atmospheric effects to make some truly funky scenes, you can do some fantastic sunsets with it.

I've played with it before, but unless you pay for it the images look a bit crap and low res.

Umm, never had that problem, just gotta put the rendering settings up to the max. The program is freeware for non-commercial uses.

even the full detail setting does let you down occasionally... however if you convert it to jpeg then the compression lowers the image quality in just the right way to remove quite alot of the dodgy rendering bits...

It was only 181kb - Thought it was acceptable, unlike the 3.5MB .bmp original...

Had to scratch my head there for a second. ROTFL. BTW the guy who made Scorched Tanks on the Amiga makes Pocket Tanks for the PC...[/quote]

Eh? If you visit the Terragen site it says:
Terragen is a work-in-progress scenery generator for Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000 and XP. At this stage of its development, Terragen is free for personal non-commercial use.
That said, Commercial users HAVE to Reg and if you want:
Registered users will also have access to priority email support, and will be able to render images larger than 1280 x 960, terrains larger than 513 x 513 and enhanced anti-aliasing modes.
Then you need to Reg too. Still, unless you have a 21" Monitor, why bother...
