ID3-Tagit

Post by mid_gen »

I've spent 8 hours over the last 2 days tagging all my MP3's properly. Couldn't have done it without ID3-TagIt.

It'll pull information from filenames to ID3 tags and vice versa, plus mass tagging and lots of other gubbins.

http://www.id3-tagit.de

Highly reccomended.

PS I expect a beer from anyone who leeches my MP3's at shotgun now ;)

4290 songs, 20.5Gb. All full albums and now properly tagged. Plus a big fat stack of CDs still needing ripping :D

I use audiograbber with Lame, does exactly what it says on the tin, and it's fast.

I've also heard good things about EAC, particularly for ripping scratched/damaged CDs, apparently it does a real good job of getting a clean rip.

I quite like CDEX, but that's mostly because it supports OGG Vorbis natively, which is nice...

freedb is great but you do have to be careful about multiple entries due to stupid people typing in the wrong names.

When will they all realise that they should just kill them selves

Mark

P.S. sorry but it really bugs me.

Oh, and it's free too. Open Source, I seem to remember ^_^
Uses that CDDB thing... or FreeDB - whatever. Seems to work.

The CDDB on CDex is a god sent,
I got 1548 and that 6gb,
I'm ripping about 15 cds a day at the mo so it is constantly expanding.

90% of ripping utils support CDDB.

Audiograbber, EAC, CDeX, Musicmatch, Beoplayer etc etc. It's not a stand-out feature, it's a requirement ;)

The best thing is that it is free,
In my line of work this is a huge bonus.

If 1,222 = 4.5 gigs, then 16,767/1,222 = 13.72.

Therefore 4.5 x 13.72 = 61.74 Gig

A rough approximation for sure, but close enough for Govt work...
