Retail chips comes with a heatsink and fan and retail boxing, where as a OEM chip comes in a plain box and no heatsink and fan.

1. Re Chip frying. RTFM!
2. OEM is not limited to chips. The equipment is identical. OEM doesn't have all the fancy packing, manuals and freebie that comes with just about anything these days. Therefore OEM kit cost less.

Intel Retail boxed processors come with a very good 3 year warranty.

OEM chips do NOT come with any warranty whatsoever unless one is granted by the retailer.

Ah, Captain Intel burbles. Are you not aware of the Sale of Goods Act :?:

Try buying with a credit card for that matter...

Oi nothin wrong with a good AMD chip, Well i never had any problems with them that would put me off them. They work for me and they are fast enough so thats all that matters right?.
