Quake 1 & 2 On iMAC's.???!!!

Hello Guys...

wonder if you can help? Ive got an iMac at work, and i want to play Quake....cuse its an easy game to run...
When i put in the disk, it doesnt allow me to run the ***.EXE's!?
Any reason Why?

Can i get around this?

ultimatly, no you cannot get around this. I assume this is Mac OS 9, possibly X? you may wish to download the Mac OS 9 or X (whatever that mac's running) version of the demo, that would give you a short game of fun.

reason why is, well, they are completely different operating systems, they can't run files intended to be ran on another operating system.

Get the Mac demos, then just copy over the .PAK files from the full game, should work fine.

heh the latest version of q3 is mac and pc compatible out of the box, shame you only want 1 or 2 (btw 2 is sloooow, go old, go HADRCROE!!1 QUAEK 1 SI TEH BETS!!!!!11)

I think quake 1 is better than 2.

does this mean that the cd for Quake 3 has both Mac and PC versions on it? wow... more details on how this works?

Tis nothing special to put the binaries for both architectures on a CD in a mutally readable format... Basically the same principle as having a floppy disc with a Word doc and a text version of the same document on it.

the differneces between the linux/mac/win32 versions are only in the executes and the dll type files. so nice and easy to port i should think (assumption made having zero programming knowledge)
