Bagged up a Netgear Cable/DSL Router today. Had a couple of probs getting it going ie:
Came with a 110 V power supply. Fortunately I had something similar that works.
Default ISP setting help files on CD/website for US ISPs only.
They can't seem to tell the difference between email address & Username.
Anyway 20 mins of fiddling and ADSL is talking to both PCs via Router.
Solved the one way communication between PCs (Outpost Firewall).
When my PC hosts Q2 or UT I can get the kids to join anf play for a while, but after about 5 mins the game locks up completely on kids PC. This requires a reboot to fix. HOST just notices they left and is fine.
Any ideas?

Some games based on the CS engine have been seen using fragmented packets with incorrect Checksums. Some ADSL routers when performing the NAT process then see these broken packets and when patching the packets with the internal network IP header info, also think they need to recalculate the checksums as they are obviously damaged by accident and need fixing. Which results in CS crashing.
I know you've now found the problem is nothing to do with the router, as you found it was the mouse at fault... but thought this would add to the discussion!
Politics: 'Poli' in Latin means 'many' and 'tics' means 'bloodsucking creatures'.
It is a useful tip, which fortunately did not send me on a wild goose chase as it arrived AFTER I had fixed the problem. It will be useful when I get round to playing some Counter Strike. Current main games across the Router are:
Midtown Madness 2, Colin McRae 2, Quake 2 and Unreal Tournament.
Any other suggestions for good network games?
